COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State's Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez (Tijuana, Mexico) was named Mountain West Diver of the Week for pair of standout performances in the Aztecs' dual-meet victory over the University of San Diego on Jan. 27.
With her award, Lechuga Gonzalez garnered her fourth conference weekly accolade of the season and third this month alone, giving her 11 such honors for her career.
Lechuga Gonzalez helped SDSU extend its win streak to 50 straight, as the Scarlet and Black downed the Toreros for the 30th consecutive occasion. As a result, the Aztecs improved to 14-0 on the year and have not dropped a dual meet since Jan. 8, 2018, a span of over five years.
Against USD last Friday, Lechuga Gonzalez won the 3-meter springboard competition with a season-best total of 320.78 points, shattering her previous high mark of the season by 34.13 points. Her point-total also marks the highest figure by an Aztec diver in that event this year and represents an NCAA Zone qualifying score.
The SDSU senior also eclipsed an NCAA Zone qualifying mark in the 1-meter springboard, finishing a strong second with 278.25 points.
Aztec divers will be back in action this weekend when they venture to the Grand Canyon State for the NAU Lumberjack Invitational, Feb. 3-5, in Flagstaff, Arizona.
San Diego State's full squad will reconvene in two weeks for the Mountain West Championships, Feb. 15-18, in Houston, Texas.
