ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Aztec track and field team had a successful first day at the Mountain West Indoor Championships Thursday at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The day was highlighted by Jenna Fee Feyerabend placing second in the pentathlon with 4,179 points with a new PR and school record, while Thalia Wilson finished 12th overall.

"I have an expectation for our team at championships; if you are supposed to win, win. If you are supposed to score, score," said Head Coach Shelia Burrell after day one of the meet. "Jenna Fee Feyerabend broke Allison Reaser's indoor pentathlon school record, solidified her position to qualify for the NCAA Championships, and scored second place for the team. She did her job and then some."

Feyerabend's performance posted new personal bests in two events and finished with 4,179 points, a new personal best and the most points in school indoor history.

Jenna Fee Feyerabend set the tone early in the day with a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.63 seconds) and tied for a first-place finish in the high jump (5-08.00), tying her personal record in the event. She then went on to place second in shot put, setting another PR (43-07.25). She put together a strong showing in the long jump (19-01.50) where she finished second and wrapped up the day with a fourth-place performance in the 800m run with a time of 2:25.22.

Thalia Wilson and Ruthie Grant-Williams also took part in the Pentathlon for the Aztecs, placing 12th and 20th respectively. Wilson earned five new PRs throughout today's pentathlon events.

"Even though they didn't score, the effort that Ruthie and Thalia put in through the first three to four events of the pentathlon is also worth recognizing," Burrell shared.

In the Distance Medley Relay, the squad of Alex Lomeli, Sydney Bentley, Tatum Zinkin, and Vanessa Cabello placed sixth with a time of 11:58.62.

"As for the DMR, we had hoped to beat the teams we beat and grab a few points, and they were able to finish where we needed them," said Burrell.
