FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – San Diego State's Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez captured the 3-meter springboard competition on Friday to lead the Aztec diving contingent at the Lumberjack Invitational inside NAU Aquatics and Tennis Complex.
Lechuga Gonzalez compiled an aggregate of 620.60 points, including an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 329.95 points in the finals, which marked a season best.
SDSU advanced four other student-athletes to the 3-meter finals consisting of 18 divers, including Valentina Lopez Arevalo, Emma Duggan and Summer Westmoreland, all of whom established season-high scores and surpassed the NCAA Zone qualifying barrier of 280 points during the competition.
Lopez Arevalo finished in the runner-up position with a combined total of 610.15 points, including a season-best 307.90 points in the final round, while Duggan landed in the fifth spot after racking up 598.0 points, highlighted by a career-high 310.15 points in the finals.
In addition, Summer Westmoreland was slotted 12th with a combined 520.30 points, punctuated by a career-best 287.70 points in the finals.
Elsewhere, Olivia Zamudio ended the day in the 14th spot with 475.75 points overall, while Taylor Konopacke found herself just missing the cut for the finals, finishing 19th in the preliminaries with 218.70 points.
The Lumberjack Diving Invitational resumes on Saturday for San Diego State with the preliminaries of the 1-meter event, starting at 10:30 a.m. MT/9:30 a.m. PT. Fans can access results on DiveMeets.com.
