SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis earned another comeback win on Sunday afternoon, beating No. 61 Tulsa 4-3 at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Aztecs dropped the doubles point before winning four singles matches to earn the win on Sunday.

The Aztecs (6-4) dropped the doubles point on Sunday, but each match was hard fought. After Andjela Skrobonja and Andreea Velcea earned a win on court three, their second straight win as a doubles pair, 6-3, the Aztecs fought back and forth with Tulsa (9-6)on the other two courts. On court one SDSU fell 6-3, while over on court two Dariya Detkovskaya and Tamara Arnold forced a tiebreaker at 5-5. The duo ultimately came up short falling 7-5 and Tulsa took the doubles point.

As for singles play, the Aztecs bounced back in a big way. Detkovskaya, ranked No. 108 in singles play in the nation, earned her eighth singles win of the season on court three, a 6-3,6-2 straight sets win to even the match at 1-1. Detkovskaya improved her singles record to 8-1 on the season. Rania Azziz battled on court five but came up short, falling 6-2, 6-3 on her court as Tulsa took a 2-1 lead.

The Aztecs would then swing the momentum of the match in their direction over the next half hour as multiple Aztecs earned set wins. Skrobonja, fresh off of winning her doubles match, followed that up with a straight sets win in singles play. The transfer from Florida International posted a 6-4, 6-4 win on court one, evening the match overall at 2-2. Alicia Melosch earned a first set win 7-5 in her match on court four. She came from 5-1 down to win the set, and quickly followed that up with a 6-2 win in the second set to take her match, and gave the Aztecs a 3-2 advantage with two matches to play.   

Cecile Morin and Arnold were the final two Aztecs remaining, and each were playing a third set on Sunday. Arnold went point for point on court two, and after falling in the first set, she won the second 6-3, but fell in the final set 6-4 and the match became tied 3-3 with one to play. Morin in the meantime was battling on court six. The senior dropped the first set of her match, 3-6, then came back in thrilling fashion. She went a back and forth second set 6-4, and then wrapped up the win for SDSU in her third set, winning 6-2 in the final set to give the Aztecs a 4-3 win on Sunday.

Up Next: SDSU faces Purdue on Friday, March 17 at the Aztec Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. PT.
