Aztecs Win at Wyoming 4-1

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Aztec women's tennis team won at Wyoming 4-1 Saturday to claim their fourth straight win.
 
SDSU won the doubles point and then earned singles wins from their top three spots. With the victory SDSU (12-5, 4-1 MW) moves into a tie for first place in the Mountain West.
 
In doubles, the Aztecs won at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. At No. 2, Dariya Detkovskaya and Andjela Skrobonja cruised to a 6-1 win. SDSU's top duo of Rania Azziz and Alicia Melosch lost 7-5, but then Tamara Arnold and Andreea Velcea clinched the doubles point by winning 7-6 and 7-2 in the tiebreaker at No. 3.
 
In singles, Detkovskaya won at the No. 3 spot. After winning the first set 6-3, she swept the second 6-0 to improve to 8-1 at the No 3 and 18-6 overall.
 
Andjela Skrobonja won her sixth match in a row at the No. 1 spot with a 6-1, 6-4 win. She is now 10-2 at No. 1.
 
Wyoming earned their lone point at No. 4 where Violetta Borodina knocked off Alicia Melosch 6-2, 6-4.
 
Tamara Arnold secured the win for the Aztecs at No. 2, winning 6-1, 7-5.

The Aztecs host UNLV next Friday (April 14) at 2 p.m.
 
THE NOTE
With the win, SDSU is now tied for first place in the Mountain West.
