EUGENE, Ore. – San Diego State track and field athlete Charlize James is set to compete in the 100m hurdles at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships on Friday. The prelims of the 100m hurdles will start at 3 p.m. PT and James will be participating in the third heat of the first round.
The top two times from each heat plus the next two fastest times will qualify for the finals which will be held on Friday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. PT. The top two finishers from the final will then automatically qualify to represent the United States at the U20 Pan American Games in Puerto Rico which will be held August 4-6.
James, who came in second in the 100m hurdles at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships, and then qualified for the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento, California, boasts a top time of 13.23 in the event. The freshman, who went to nearby San Diego High School, also earned all-MW honors for her performance at the conference outdoor meet in the 100m hurdles during the 2023 collegiate season.
