SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women's tennis team will begin its 2023 fall schedule of collegiate tournaments this weekend in the USTA Intercollegiate Championships at the Hogan Tennis Center on the campus of the University of San Diego. The Scarlet and Black will be represented by Andjela Skrobonja, Gloria Alogo and Zoe Olmos. The event, which begins on Thursday, Sept. 21, will conclude on Sunday, Sept. 24.
Skrobonja led the way for the Aztecs a season ago. In her first year on The Mesa after transferring from Florida International, she paced the team with 20 wins overall, nine of which in the fall in addition to a perfect 5-0 record in conference play on her way to an All-Mountain West selection for her singles play.
A transfer from North Texas, Alogo posted a winning record while playing towards the top of the Mean Green lineup last year. The Spanish national finalist is the lone underclassman on the San Diego State team.
The lone American on the Aztec roster, Olmos joins SDSU as a transfer from Cal State Fullerton, where she was named to the All-Big West First Team for achieving an 11-5 record while going 5-3 in conference matches on the top two courts. Before her time with the Titans, Olmos won the CCCAA State Championship in both singles and doubles in 2022 with Chabot College.
Following this weekend's tournament, San Diego State will host the SDSU Fall Classic I next weekend, from Friday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Aztec Tennis Center.
