SAN DIEGO –Jessica Kain has been named the Mountain West Cross Country Women's Athlete of the Week after her record setting performance in Riverside last Saturday. The league announced their weekly award winners Tuesday.
The Scotts Valley native finished first with a time of 19:58.3 at the Highlander Invitational. Her time marks the first sub-20-minute 6k in program history and the fastest any Aztec has run at the UCR Agricultural/Operations Course.

Further, Kain led San Diego State to a fifth place finish out of 23 teams and their best team time in a 6k race since at least the 2000 season.
This marks the second career weekly honor for Kain with the first being awarded to her on Sept. 20, 2022.
Kain and the women's cross country team will be back in action at the Mountain West Championships on Friday, Oct. 27.
