SAN DIEGO – San Diego State's men's basketball program completed its 2024-25 recruiting class with the signing of Thokbor "David" Majak on Friday.
Majak (MAH-jock) is a 7-0, 195-pound post who is playing at Dream City Christian High in Glendale, Arizona. The three-star recruit, originally hailing from South Sudan, attended Dankind Academy in Nairobi, Kenya before moving to the United States. He will join two other members of the program, who also are natives of South Sudan; Magoon Gwath, a freshman on this year's team, and Aguek Arop, Director of Player Development.
He is a rim protector who boasts a 7-4 wingspan, can switch one-to-five and communicates on the court at a very high level. He is extremely quick in running the floor and might be the fastest player on the team next year. Majak has a nose for blocking shots and has a highlight reel on the internet in which he swatted 11 shots in a game. Having only played basketball for five years, his defensive prowess is ahead of his offense at this point. He is expected to develop into an on the block type player and as a rim protector, has been compared to Skylar Spencer.
He joins Taj Degourville and Pharaoh Compton, who signed their NLIs Wednesday and yesterday, respectively, and will begin competing for the Scarlet and Black beginning in the 2024-25 school year.
San Diego State plays at Brigham Young this evening, Friday, November 10 at 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT with the game being carried on ESPN+.
