SAN DIEGO – The Aztecs (3-2) host Penn Saturday at 1 p.m. inside Viejas Arena for the first game of the San Diego Thanksgiving Classic.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• After losing their first two games, SDSU has won three in a row. Their average margin of victory in those games is 18 points.
• The Aztecs beat Westcliff 64-42 Tuesday, outscoring the Warriors 37-12 in the second half.
• SDSU had assists on 19 of their 25 field goals.
Kim Villalobos stuffed the stat sheet and became just the second Aztec in the Mountain West era (1999-present) to have at least 15 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists in a game, joining SDSU Hall of Famer Jené Morris.
• The Aztecs are in the midst of five straight home games. Over the last two years, SDSU is 17-4 at home.
• SDSU has four players averaging at least 10 points per game: Adryana Quezada (13.0), Jada Lewis (11.8), Abby Prohaska (11.2), and Kim Villalobos (11.0). Sarah Barcello has scored in double-digits three times and is averaging 9.6 points per game.
• In the Aztecs' five games, they have had four different leading scorers and four different leading rebounders.
• The Aztec starting lineup features two sixth year seniors (Barcello and Prohaska), two fifth year seniors (Lewis and Quezada) and a fourth-year senior (Villalobos). This is believed to be the most experienced starting five in the nation.
• SDSU is second in the Mountain West with 15.8 made free throws per game and their free throw percentage of 79.6% is 25th in the nation. Abby Prohaska is shooting 91.7% from the line on the year, tops in the Mountain West
• The Aztecs have allowed zero fast break points in their last two games.
• Through five games, 40% of their scoring has come from newcomers (Lewis, Quezada and Jackson).
• The Aztecs currently have three players (all newcomers) out with injury: Erin Houpt, Trinity Zamora and Mia Davis.
• SDSU announced the signings of four recruits to National Letters of Intent: guards Kaelyn Hamilton (McKinney, Texas), Natalia Martinez (San Leandro, Calif.) and Naomi Panganiban (San Diego) and forward Bailey Barnhard (San Diego).
 
Player Notes
Adryana Quezada (Frisco, Texas) was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field vs. Westcliff Tuesday. She has a career field goal percentage of 51.7%. She has scored in double-digits in four of SDSU's five games. In her career, she has scored in double-digits in 42 of her 62 games.
• Quezada redshirted at SDSU last year after being an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention selection at Utah State in 2021-22.
Abby Prohaska (Liberty Township, Ohio) leads the Mountain West in made free throws (22) and free throw percentage (91.7%) this season. She is 116-for-135 from the free throw line in her career (85.9%). She shot 87.5% last year, the fourth best ever in a single-season by an Aztec.
Kim Villalobos (Los Angeles) had 15 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists vs. Westcliff Tuesday. She leads the Aztecs in assists and her 13 steals are the most in the Mountain West.
Jada Lewis (Rocklin, Calif.) is shooting 37.0% from three in her career (103 games).
• Lewis is 53-for-60 (88.3%) from the free throw line in her career.
• Lewis is playing a Mountain West-high 34.0 minutes per game.
Sarah Barcello (Phoenix, Ariz.) has scored in double-digits in three of SDSU's five games this year. She topped 10 points just once in her 33 games last year.
Meghan Fiso (Seattle, Wash.) set a new career-high with made field goals (5) and tied her career-high with five rebounds Tuesday.
 
Opponent Notebook (Penn)
• The Quakers are 3-1. They have wins over Marist (74-51), Siena 85-79) and Chapman (92-46), while their lone loss was to Saint Joseph's (77-49).
• They went 17-12 last year and 9-5 in the Ivy League and qualified for the WNIT.
• They attempt 28 three-pointers per game, which is 14th in the nation, but are making just 23.8% of those attempts (296th).
• Stina Almqvist leads the team in scoring (20.7) and rebounds (9.3).
• Head coach Mike McLaughlin (15th season) has led Penn to four Ivy League championships and has over 600 wins in his coaching career.
• These two programs have met just once before, an 51-37 Aztec win Dec. 20, 2011 in San Diego.
