PORTLAND, Ore. – The Aztec women's basketball team lost at Portland 72-58 in their season opener. SDSU forced the Pilots into 23 turnovers, but saw Portland shoot 47 percent from both the field and from three.

SDSU had three players in double digits and were led by Kim Villalobos 16. Adryana Quezada added 14 in her Aztec debut and Sarah Barcello had 12 points, her most as an Aztec.

The Aztecs trailed by eight at the end of the first quarter, but then pulled with three after an 11-3 run.

Another SDSU run, this time an 8-0 one to start the second half pulled the Aztecs within two points (34-32). However shortly after, the Pilots went on a 15-2 run and led by double-digits for the rest of the way.

Portland, who went to the NCAA Tournament last year, was led by Emme Shearer's game-high 17 points.
