SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's track and field is set for their final regular season meet of the indoor season this weekend as they head to Albuquerque once again for the Don Kirby Invitational. Competition will span over both Friday and Saturday.
SDSU will send its largest group thus far this season with 25 student-athletes making the trip. Overall, the Aztecs have 33 entries for the two-day meet across the sprints, distances, and jump events.
Competition begins with long jump in the field events at 9 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. on the track with the 200m dash. Saturday starts at 9 a.m. with the pole vault and 9:30 a.m. with the 60m hurdles.

Aztec Tidbits
• Shaquena Foote and Xiamara Young both earned Mountain West weekly honors for their performances at the UNM Collegiate Classic. Foote was named MW Women's Track Athlete of the Week while Young was named MW Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
• Through three meets of indoor season, the Aztecs have recorded 17 program top ten marks including two school records in the 400m and 3,000m.
• Shaquena Foote broke SDSU's 20-year-old school record in the 400m with a time of 53.30 during the Aztecs' season opening meet then broke her own record last weekend at the UNM Collegiate Classic with a time of 53.26 seconds. She ranks first in MW and 32nd in NCAA.
• Xiamara Young recorded two program top ten marks at the UNM Classic, moving into fifth all-time for triple jump at 13.10m (42-11.75) and tenth all-time in long jump at 6.02m (19-9). She finished fourth overall, and second among collegiate competitors in the triple jump.
• Competing in her first collegiate indoor 3,000m run, Jessica Kain set the program record with a time of 9:32.77 on Friday of the UW Invite. The next day, she ran the sixth fastest 800m in program history at 2:10.61.
• Charlize James ranks number two on SDSU's all-time list for the 60m hurdles. She recorded a PR of 8.34 in her prelim at the MLK Invitational to qualify for the final where she bested herself with an 8.23. She finished second overall and first among collegiate competitors.
• Hannah Waller had a tremendous 60m race at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, matching her PR and number two ranked time in SDSU history. She wound up finishing third overall for the race, and second among collegiate sprinters. She also ranks number three all-time in long jump with a mark of 20-2.5 set at the MLK Invitational to open the season.
• Amber Elias had a career effort in the UW Invite 5,000m, crossing the line in 18:21.69. It is the second fastest indoor 5k in program history and sets a senior class record.
• The pair of Vanessa Cabello and Eva Rethmeier also made 3,000m history in Seattle. Cabello ran a PR of 9:51.56 while Rethmeier ran a 10:04.03 to move into three and four on the all-time list.
• Alex Lomeli cross the line in 2:11.69 in her 800m race. A personal best, it also ranks as the eighth fastest time in SDSU indoor history.
• The freshmen duo of Lidia Major and Jordan Leveque made history in their collegiate debuts. Major finished 12th overall in the 600m with a time of 1:37.23, the eighth-fastest time in program history. Leveque posted a mark of 3.82m (12-6.25) in pole vault becoming just the 21st different Aztec to clear the bar at that height.
• Aji Mbye, competing in her first ever collegiate meet in the season opener, won her heat and finished third overall in both the 60m (7.50) and 200m (24.29) unseeded races. Both times are best by a freshman in the Mountain West this season.
• Foote (200m, 400m), Waller (60m), James (60mH), and Callahan (pole vault) currently lead the Mountain West in their respective events. In total, 18 Aztecs rank in the top 10 of the MW, 13 rank in the top 25 of the west region, and six rank in the top 50 of the NCAA.
