NEW ORLEANS – Track and Field's Xiamara Young has been named a Second Team All-American for her ninth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships over the weekend. The USTFCCCA office officially announced the full list of All-America recipients on Monday.
In her first career NCAA indoor meet, she jumped 13.26m (43-6) to qualify for the finals and earn three more attempts before ultimately placing ninth among the 16 competitors. It was the best placement by an Aztec in triple jump since Shanieka Thomas won the event in 2014.
This is the 28th indoor all-America selection in San Diego State history with Young being the 19th different Aztec to garner the award.
Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2023 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Boston, Mass., took home First-Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 16th individually and as part of a relay earned Second-Team All-America. The remaining athletes were honorable mention.
