SAN DIEGO – Aztec football’s Kenan Christon has been named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List, the Louisville Sports Commission announced Wednesday. In its 14th year, the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is rewarded to the most versatile, high-level performer in college football.
Christon is one of 48 players on the Paul Hornung Award preseason watch list.
The senior running back returns for a fifth collegiate season after leading San Diego state with 910 all-purpose yards a season ago. His 331 kick return yards ranked fourth in the Mountain West (T-53rd in FBS) while his 13 kickoff returns was fifth (T-52nd in FBS). He also added 378 rushing yards and 201 receiving yards last year. Christon was ultimately named an all-MW honorable mention as a kick returner.
Christon has been named an all-Mountain West second team preseason selection by Athlon Sports.
San Diego State’s first season under Sean Lewis begins Aug. 31 at Snapdragon Stadium against Texas A&M-Commerce. The Aztecs will play six of their 12 games in 2024 at Snapdragon Stadium. Seven of SDSU’s 11 FBS opponents made a bowl game a year ago.
