SAN DIEGO – Four members of the San Diego State women’s tennis team are headed to Las Vegas for the inaugural Mountain West Fall Qualifier, taking place Oct. 2-5 at Darling Tennis Center.
In the pilot year of this new championship format, each NCAA Division 1 AQ-eligible conference hosts a tournament to designate one singles player and one doubles pair on both the men’s and women’s side to represent them in the ITA Conference Masters tournament, which is one of four qualifying pathways to this year’s NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
Gloria Alogo, Ninon Martinache, Jo-Yee Chan and Liisa Varul will be competing for the automatic qualification, which would provide the opportunity to represent the Mountain West at San Diego’s Barnes Tennis Center on Nov. 7.
The four Aztecs will open up competition with the doubles round of 16 at 9:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday, followed by the singles round of 32 beginning at 10:30.
