SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis is returning home to the Aztec Tennis Center this week to host the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, which will run from Thursday, Oct. 17 through Tuesday, Oct. 22.
The singles qualifying round is set to begin at 9 a.m. PT with Charlotte Roesch and Zoe Olmos representing the Aztecs. Vesa Gjinaj will take a bye into the qualifying round of 32, which will get underway at noon.

Co-hosted by the University of San Diego, the tournament will feature student-athletes from Arizona, Arizona State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Grand Canyon, Hawai’i, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego, UCI, UCLA, UCR, UCSB, UCSD and USC.
The regional tournament offers an opportunity for two singles players and one doubles team to earn a bid to the 2024 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, which will take place Nov. 19-24.
Last outing, Gloria Alogo, Jo-Yee Chan, Ninon Martinache and Liisa Varul competed at the Mountain West Fall Qualifier in Las Vegas where they totaled 10 main draw wins, led by Alogo and Chan who advanced all the way through to the singles semifinals.
