SAN DIEGO – The Aztecs are hosting San Francisco Saturday at 1 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive a SDSU Pride T-shirt.
Aztec Tidbits
- SDSU is 3-0 and coming off a 62-51 win over Idaho State Monday.
- The Aztecs are 3-0 for the first time since the 2017-18 season. With a win Saturday, SDSU will start the season 4-0 for the first time since the 1992-93 season.
- As of Thursday, Nov. 14, SDSU is one of just three Mountain West teams to be undefeated.
- The Aztecs are eighth in the nation in free throws made per game (21.0) and 16th in free throws attempted per game (27.7).
- SDSU leads the Mountain West in turnovers forced per game (22.7) and free throw percentage (75.9%). The Aztecs set a school record for free throw percentage last year (75.6%).
- The Aztecs have shown off their depth with 11 Aztecs playing in the first quarter in all three games games. All 11 are averaging at least 10 minutes per game and six different players have scored in double digits.
- SDSU has had a different leading scorer each game.
- Three players are averaging double digits (Quezada, Houpt, Sheffey) and a fourth (Villalobos) is averaging 9.3 points per game.
- 39.3% of the Aztecs’ scoring has come from their bench (29.0 of 73.7 points).
- Since the beginning of last season, the Aztecs are 14-2 when they score 70 or more points.
- Since the beginning of last season of the 2022-23 season, SDSU is 29-7 (.806) in home games.

- SDSU has seven players in their 4th year or later and five in the 5th year or later (Clark, Fiso, Green, Quezada and Villalobos), three of which start.
- SDSU was one of 21 schools (6%) that didn’t lose any players to the transfer portal in the offseason.
- SDSU won their season opener over Cal State San Marcos 76-48, their largest season opening win since 2011 (86-43 vs. Arkansas Pine-Bluff).
- Adryana Quezada was on the preseason All-Mountain West team. She averaged a team-high 14.0 points per game last year and became the first Aztec in the Mountain West era (25 years) to shoot at least 50% from the field and 80% from the line.
- Both Quezada and Villalobos have over 1,000 career points and 600 career rebounds. Quezada has scored 1,350 points and collected 664 rebounds (14.2 and 7.0 per game). Villalobos has 1,031 points and 660 rebounds.
- The Aztecs have six newcomers, led by transfers Veronica Sheffey (San Diego) and Cali Clark (Colorado State). Sheffey, a point guard, was an All-WCC Second Team selection last year and Clark, a 6’3” forward, appeared in over 100 games at Colorado State.
- The Aztecs were picked to finish fifth in the Mountain West preseason poll.
- SDSU set a program record for attendance last year.
- The Aztecs non-conference schedule features six games against teams that won 20 or more games a year ago, and four against schools that made the postseason.
- SDSU is playing in the Cancun Challenge over Thanksgiving where they will play Wisconsin, VCU and Providence.
- This is Stacie Terry-Hutson’s 12th season as San Diego State’s head coach.
Player Notes
- Adryana Quezada is one of five players in the nation to have over 1,300 points and 600 rebounds while shooting at least 50% from the field and 70% from the line.
- Quezada is shooting 60% from the field this season.
- Quezada has scored double-digits in 68 of her 95 career games and in 30 of her 38 as an Aztec, including all three games this season.
- Kim Villalobos is one of eight players in the nation with at least 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, 175 assists, 150 steals and 75 blocks in her career.
- Villalobos is in the top ten in school history in both career rebounds and blocks.
- Last year Villalobos was the only player in the Mountain West to finish in the top 10 in rebounds, steals and blocks.
- Last year Villalobos became only the second Aztec in the Mountain West era to have at least 300 points, 200 rebounds, 75 assists and 50 steals in a season.
- Erin Houpt is the only player in the nation to shoot at least 40% from three and 90% from the line in her career.
- Houpt is 92.9% (143-154) from the line in her career, the second best in the nation (minimum 100 made free throws).
- Houpt’s 42.0% career three-point percentage is sixth in the nation among qualified players.
- Cali Clark is 11th in the nation among active players in rebounds per minute (minimum 50 games).
- Clark was second in the nation last year in rebounds per minute, trailing only All-American Cameron Brink.
- In Clark’s 109 career games at Colorado State, she had 10 or more rebounds six times. She has had double-digit rebounds in two of her three games as an Aztec.
- Naomi Panganiban became the first true freshman to start the season opener for SDSU since 2018 (Sophia Ramos and Mallory Adams).
- Meghan Fiso tied career-highs for made three-pointers in a game (3) and blocks (2) Monday vs. Idaho State. It was her seventh career game scoring in double-digits.
Opponent Notebook (San Francisco)
- The Dons are 2-1 on the year.
- They lost their season opener at Colorado State 52-47 then beat UC Santa Barbara 59-37 and Portland State 62-56.
- They went 14-16 last year and 10-6 in the WCC, good for third in the conference.
- They were picked to finish sixth in the WCC this year.
- Debora Dos Santos was named to the All-WCC Preseason Team. She averaged 15.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game last year. She is averaging 13 points and 8.7 rebounds per game through three games this season.
- The Dons are averaging 47.7 rebounds per game this year, 16 more than their opponents.
- They are holding opponents to 28% shooting.
- Head coach Molly Goodenbour is in her ninth season as USF’s head coach.
