NEW YORK – San Diego State men’s soccer’s Reid Fisher was invited to the adidas MLS College Showcase. The four-day talent evaluation event will give technical staffs from each MLS club an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation ahead of MLS SuperDraft 2025.
44 players were invited to the event and Fisher was one of 14 defenders invited. Fisher was named to both the All-WAC First Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-Far West Region First Team after helping the Aztecs lead the conference in shutouts per game, goals allowed average and shots on goals allowed per game in WAC matches. Fisher has led SDSU in minutes in each of the last two seasons and in 2023 was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and a Freshmen All-American.
"We are thrilled to see Reid selected to participate in the MLS combine. It shows our player development model is working at the highest levels," Head Coach Ryan Hopkins said. "Our goal is to compete for championships, help guys pursue professional opportunities and graduate with a great degree."
This is the fourth straight year an Aztec has earned an invite to the MLS College Showcase (Laukoa Santos, CJ Fodrey and Reid Sproat).
“The adidas College Showcase is an instrumental part of the evaluation process for top collegiate talent from across the country and we are excited to welcome our clubs to San Diego for this year’s event,” said Alecko Eskandarian, Vice President, Player Relations & Player Development. “The college soccer landscape has a longstanding tradition of developing players who go on to have successful careers in MLS, with many first showcasing their talent at this event before making an impact in the league. We look forward to this year's group of prospects making their mark on the 2024 College Showcase."
The College Showcase takes place December 11-14 in San Diego, and the MLS Superdraft is Dec. 20.
The 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase is a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA. The eligible player list for MLS SuperDraft 2025 will be announced at a later date following the 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase.
