SAN DIEGO – Junior Shaquena Foote has been named the Mountain West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Silver and Blue Invitational this past weekend. The league office announced the weekly award winners on Tuesday.

Foote ran in both the 60m and 200m races in Reno, Nev. last weekend, recording top ten marks in both.

Saturday’s 200m was a dominant showing for the Jamaica native, clocking a 23.22 (23.29 altitude adjusted) for the victory. She won the event by 0.46 seconds and won her heat by over three seconds. Already at third fastest in program history, she improved her PR by just over two-tenths of a second. In the season rankings, she is currently leading the conference in the event and ranks tied for fourth nationally.

In Friday’s 60m dash, she ran a 7.35 (7.37 altitude-adjusted) to finish third in the preliminary heat before matching the exact time for a third-place finish in the final. The mark puts her at sixth fastest in San Diego State indoor history. It also ranks third fastest in the conference this year and tied for 20th nationally.

The award is the fifth of her career, claiming three in last year’s indoor season and one in 2023.

Foote and the Aztecs are set for a trip to Washington this weekend competing in the UW Invite/Mile City in Seattle on Friday and Saturday.
