SEATTLE, Wash. – San Diego State track and field had a remarkable day one at Washington etching five times into the program record books on Friday afternoon. Four Aztecs ran top ten times while the fifth set a class record.

SDSU’s day started in the 600m run early in the afternoon. Shaquena Foote, in her third different event of the indoor season, recorded her third record book mark crossing the line in 1:30.28 as the runner-up. Right on her heels was Anna Mager at 1:31.51 for a fourth-place finish. The times rank third and fifth fastest in program history, respectively.

Next on the schedule was the 800m, the most populated event of the day. School record holder, Lauren Harper, crossed the line fourth at 2:09.43 to set the senior class record. The previous best by a senior was a 2:10.45 by Mandy Upuu – also in Seattle – on Feb. 16, 2008.

Isabella Fauria (2:15.08) finished 17th ahead of Samantha Wood’s personal best of 2:17.92 in 20th. Sara Jones rounded out the quartet of Aztecs with a 2:21.52 in her indoor track debut.

The final race of the day featured Vanessa Cabello and Emily Van Valkenburg in the third heat of the 3,000m run. Cabello finished fourth in the heat with a time of 9:50.38 while Van Valkenburg finished in 9:57.90 in eighth. The times rank third and fourth in SDSU history as the duo represents two of just four Aztecs to ever run a sub-10 minute 3k during the indoor season.

San Diego State wraps up their trip to the pacific northwest with Mile City tomorrow morning. One of the fastest distance events in the country, the races begin at 10 a.m. at Dempsey Indoor.
