SAN DIEGO – Fresh off its fourth straight conference title and sixth in the last seven years, the San Diego State swim and dive program garnered 45 all-Mountain West accolades at the 2025 MW Championships, held Feb. 19-22 in Houston, Texas. The announcement was made Wednesday by the league office in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

All-Mountain West honors are presented to the top eight finishers in each of the individual swimming and diving events, as well as the competitors on the top-three placing teams in each of the five relay events.

The  Aztecs led the league with 14 individuals named to the all-MW team, while all five of their relay teams received all-conference recognition.

SDSU’s remarkable depth was on display throughout the week, as the Scarlet and Black captured five gold, seven silver and two bronze medals, while logging 13 additional finishes in the championship finals.

As a result, the Aztecs became the just the second program in MW history to win four straight conference swimming and diving championships after former member Brigham Young accomplished the feat from 2007-10.

Following the championships, Valentina Lopez Arevalo was named MW Diver of the Meet for the second year in a row, marking the fourth time an SDSU student-athlete has earned such honors after Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez received the same distinction in 2019 and 2022.

Lopez Arevalo took home gold medals on the 3-meter springboard and in platform competition while claiming a silver in the 1-meter springboard event.

In all, the Scarlet and Black boasted eight competitors who garnered three or more all-Mountain West accolades, including Meredith Smithbaker, who collected six certificates, while Moa Bergdahl, Alli Mann, Alex Roberts and Abby Storm earned five apiece. See below for complete list of recipients.

San Diego State divers are now gearing up for the NCAA Zone E Championships, slated for March 10-12 in Federal Way, Washington. Meanwhile, Aztec swimmers who achieved NCAA “B” cut times eagerly await notice of qualification for the NCAA Championships, set for March 19-22 at the same site.
