FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Following Friday’s victory in Laramie, San Diego State women’s tennis completed a road sweep on Sunday with a 4-2 win at Colorado State.
The Aztecs improve to 11-6 overall and 4-1 in the Mountain West while the Rams fall to 3-14 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
The Scarlet and Black captured the doubles point, earning hard-fought victories on courts two and three. Zoe Olmos and Charlotte Roesch took down Mariya Dobreva and Diana Lizarazo 7-5 on court three and Vesa Gjinaj and Ninon Martinache clinched the point with a win by the same score over Logan Voeks and Viktor Zhadzinskaya on the second court. Jo-Yee Chan and Liisa Varul were bested 6-3 by Victor Erechtchenko and Sarah Weekley on the top court.
Due to a forfeit by the Rams, Roesch was credited with a win on court six to give the Aztecs a 2-0 advantage.
Martinache then secured a victory on court two, defeating Voeks 6-0, 6-4.
Weekley put the Rams on the board, taking court one 7-6, 6-4 over Chan. Olmos was bested 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 by Zhadzinskaya in the third spot, adding another point for Colorado State.
Varul was the clincher for the Aztecs, earning a 6-3, 6-4 win over Erechtchenko on court four.
San Diego State is back on the road next week, taking on Fresno State at 2 p.m. on Friday and San Jose State at noon on Sunday.
