SAN DIEGO – Jeremiah Oden, a 6-9 forward who Aztec fans should be familiar with after his three seasons at Wyoming, is officially a member of the San Diego State men’s basketball program after signing an athletic aid agreement and will compete for SDSU in 2025-26, his lone remaining year of eligibility. Head men’s basketball coach Brian Dutcher made the announcement on Monday.

In five games against the Scarlet and Black, Oden averaged 13.0 points on 56.1 (23-of-41) percent shooting from the floor, including 42.9 (9-of-21) percent from beyond the arc, and 90.9 (10-of-11) from the line. In addition, he grabbed 12 boards (2.4/game) with three assists, three steals and two blocks.

Oden is entering his sixth year of college basketball after a three-year stint at Wyoming, one season at DePaul, and last year at Charlotte, but did not compete for the 49ers due to injury.

At DePaul, in 2023-24, Oden was a starter in 24 of his 32 appearances and averaged 7.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 28.1 minutes per game. He totaled at least 10 points in a game nine times, including a season-high 25 against Iowa State, where he went 8-of-13 (.615) from the field, which included a career-best six 3-pointers on seven attempts (.857). It was one of 10 games in which he shot at least 50.0 percent from distance. He shot 81.4 percent from the line and had only three games in which he failed to shoot at least 75.0 percent and recorded at least four rebounds in 14 contests.

For the three seasons from 2020-21 to 2022-23, Oden was a member of the Wyoming program. In 87 games as a Cowboy, including 62 starts, he averaged 7.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 22.5 minutes per contest.  

In his final year in Laramie, he started in 19 of the 30 contests he appeared in. He averaged a career-best 9.6 points and pulled down 3.6 rebounds in 24.5 minutes per outing. He shot 44.3 percent (105-of-237) and knocked down a career-best 34.4 percent (32-of-93) from distance, and 69.7 percent (46-of-66) from the line, to go along with career-highs in assists (24) and steals (19) as well as 14 blocks. He scored at least 10 points in half of his appearance, with a career-high 28 against Nevada and recorded his third career-double double with 15 points and 10 boards against Fresno State. Totaled 12 games in which he made multiple 3-pointers, twice hitting a season-high three: vs. Nevada and Colorado Christian. In 17 contests, he made at least 40.0 percent of his shot attempts and finished with at least four rebounds in 13 games. He had a single-game best two assists five times, three steals once and two blocks on three occasions.

In his sophomore season, he played in all 34 games with 32 starts on a Cowboys team that posted a 25-9 record and competed in the NCAA First Four. He averaged 7.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 26.5 minutes per game. He finished shooting a career-high 52.1 percent on 100-of-192 from the field, 30.6 percent from the bonus distance and 73.6 percent from the line to go along with 14 assists, 12 steals and a career-high 26 blocks. He reached double figure scoring 13 times (Wyoming was 11-2 in those contests) with a pair of then career-high 17-point games, against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and San Diego State. Against McNeese he recorded his second career-double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Oden knocked down multiple three pointers in a game six times, the Cowboys went 5-1 when he did, and 21 times he shot at least 40.0 percent from the field (Wyoming was 17-4 in those contests). He grabbed at least five boards in 15 games with his team posting a 13-2 record when he did.

As a freshman, he made 11 starts in 23 appearances and averaged 4.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game with 10 assists and eight steals and blocks. Against Oregon State, in one of five games in which he reached double figure scoring, he totaled a then career-high 15 points. Against Texas Southern, he finished the game with 10 points and 11 rebounds for his first collegiate-double double. In addition, his three blocks against Denver are still a career best. He shot at least 40.0 percent from the floor nine times (the team was 6-3 in those games) and when he totaled at least four rebounds Wyoming was 6-2.

A three-star recruit out of Sunrise Christian Academy, Oden helped lead the program to a No. 6 ranking in the final National Prep Coaches Poll. He averaged 10.0 points per game to go along with 5.0 rebounds in his postgraduate season. Prior to Sunrise Christian, Oden played at St. Rita High School in Chicago. He led his team to a 24-9 record as a senior and a Chicago Catholic League title. He also earned All-Chicago Catholic League honors, after posting 15.0 points per game to go along with 6.0 rebounds.
