Aztecs Through Two Rounds at MW Championship

Through 36 holes, they are led by Ema Narita, who is tied for 11th place with a five-over-par 149. As a team, the Aztecs enter the final round in eighth place with a 34-over-par 610.

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The San Diego State women’s golf team finished the second round of the Mountain West Championship at the Mission Hills Country Club Wednesday. Through 36 holes, they are led by Ema Narita, who is tied for 11th place with a five-over-par 149.

As a team, the Aztecs enter the final round in eighth place with a 34-over-par 610.

After firing an even par 72 in the opening round, Narita had a five-over-par 77 Wednesday.

Stephanie Barbaglia had the best round among Aztec golfers Wednesday with a three-over-par 75. Similar to the first round, she performed better on the front nine than the back nine, shooting a 34 (-2) and then a 41 (+5). She is tied for 21st through two rounds, moving up six spots.

Kylie Phi also moved up the standings Wednesday after carding a four-over-par 76. She is tied for 31st entering the final round.

Maya Benita matched her first round score on Wednesday with a six-over-par 78.

Even though Emilia Omander finished outside the scoring, she led the team with four birdies, all of which came on the back nine.

San Jose State moved into the lead on day two and their Lucia Lopez Ortega is tied with UNLV’s Toa Yokoyama for the individual lead with a two-under-par 142.

STAT OF THE DAY
The Aztecs are averaging 3.27 strokes on par threes, tied for the third best average in the tournament. Barbaglia is one-under-par on par threes, averaging 2.88 strokes.
