SAN DIEGO – Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson has announced the signing of Maria Konstantinidou, 6’2” forward from Fresno State.
“Maria will be a great addition to our program,” Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said. “She is versatile for her size, she can score in the midrange and can step out and knock down the three. Defensively, she will give us an imposing presence in the key.”
Konstantinidou (kon-stan-tee-NEE-dow) started 32 games at Fresno State last year and averaged 5.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in 18.8 minutes per game. She led the Bulldogs in blocks and was second on the team in rebounds. She had nine rebounds on three occasions, including in Fresno State’s upset of Colorado State in the Mountain West tournament. After the season, she was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
As a freshman, she played in 25 games off the bench while averaging 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.
Konstantinidou was born in Greece but grew up in Germany where she played for both USC Freiburg and TK Hannover in the Bundesliga after playing in the U18 playoffs in both 2019 and 2020 with BSG Ludwigsburg. In 2020, she led all U18 players in rebounding. She averaged 6.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game during the 2022 European Championships.
Konstantinidou, who will have two years of eligibility left, is SDSU’s second signing out of the transfer portal, joining forward Kennedy Lee (Nevada). SDSU lost their top three post players from the 2024-25 season to graduation.
The Aztecs are coming off a 25-win season, the third most in school history, where they won the Mountain West tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
