AZUSA, Calif. -- Lauren Harper ran the second-fastest 800 meters in school history to lead the San Diego State track and field team on the second day of the Bryan Clay Invitational Thursday in Azusa, California.
Harper ran a time of 2 minutes, 5 seconds (2:05.00), taking 1.40 seconds off her previous best time of 2:06.40 set at the 2022 Mountain West Championship meet. Harper passed Monica Joyce (2:05.57 in 1982), Nyjari McNeil (2:05.27 in 2019) and Alex Lomeli (2:05.04 in 2024) into second place, only trailing Renee Chambers-Ross’ 2:02.88 in 1985. Harper finished 10th out of 127 entrants in the invitational event.
Sophia Wolf, meanwhile, ran the seventh-fastest 800 in program history in 2:06.67 to take 26th in the same event as Harper. It was a personal best for Wolf, who ran her first three years at New Orleans.
