SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s tennis has added San Diego native William Kleege to its 2025-26 roster, the team announced on Wednesday.

Having won the CIF individual doubles championship in 2024, the incoming freshman out of Torrey Pines High School garnered First Team All-CIF Boys Tennis honors. He also recently finished runner-up at the 2025 Easter Bowl, a USTA national junior championship competition.

Kleege currently has an ATP ranking of 2,083 among doubles players in the world and has been ranked inside the top 2,000 in the past.

The future Aztec boasts wins over Arizona’s Colton Smith and Jay Friend, who currently rank No. 4 and 5 in the ITA National Singles Rankings, respectively.

Kleege joins a team with four current freshmen in Louis Chusseau, Paul Janson, Marc Kleber and Denis Maijorov, as well as sophomore Philipp Bosse and junior Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice. Competing for one more year in the Mountain West, head coach Gene Carswell and the young San Diego State roster look ahead to joining the Pac-12 in 2026-27.
