SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State senior Justin Hastings (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) is set to compete in the 2025 Masters Tournament this weekend at the historic Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

Hastings, who owns the best career scoring average in program history at 71.28, just ahead of two-time major champion Xander Schauffele (71.50), will tee off at 12:11 p.m. ET (9:11 a.m. PT) in Thursday’s first round and will play with 2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson and Nick Taylor.

Hastings received an invitation to compete in the 2025 Masters Tournament, and exemptions into The Open and the U.S. Open, by winning the 2025 Latin American Championship, Jan. 16-18, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at 16-under-par 72.

Hastings enters the weekend as the 24th-ranked amateur in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). He’s one of five amateurs competing in 89th edition of the Masters.

Hastings leads the Aztecs this season with a 70.54 scoring average through 24 rounds. He also tops the team with 13 rounds below par and is tied for first with eight rounds in the 60s. Out of his eight collegiate tournaments, he has one win and five top-10s.

Hastings is one of three players in the Masters with SDSU ties this weekend. PGA TOUR member J.J. Spaun will tee off just ahead of Hastings at noon ET (9 a.m. PT) Thursday, while Schauffele begins the quest for his third major title at 1:01 p.m. ET (10:01 a.m. PT).
