ATHENS, Ga. – The San Diego State women’s golf team placed seventh at the University of Georgia’s Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The trio of Maya Benita, Ema Narita and Kylie Phi tied for the best score among Aztec golfers with a 12-over-par 228, which tied for 25th overall.
Benita and Narita tied for the best score of the day with a four-over-par 76 with each of them carding a pair of birdies.
Phi, who has won three Mountain West Freshman of the Week awards, shot a 77 on Wednesday.
Stephanie Barbaglia also had a 77 in her final round and finished just one stroke behind SDSU’s leading trio with a 229 (+13), which put her in a tie for 31st.
Emilia Omander finished outside the scoring Wednesday with an 83 and finished the tournament with a 243 (+27).
Georgia Southern won the tournament by 14 strokes, shooting a 12-over-par 876. Oklahoma’s Audrey Rischer took home the individual championship with an even par 216.
STAT OF THE DAY
The average score in the final round was a 78.10, the highest of the tournament.
