CLOVIS, Calif. -- Freshman Peyton Bedrosian led a group of three San Diego State pole vaulters who took third, fourth and fifth place, respectively, on the second day of the 2025 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, California.
Bedrosian and Sydney Ash each cleared 13 feet, 2 ¼ inches (4.02 meters), becoming the 21st and 22nd pole vaulters in school history to break 13-00.25 (3.97m). Bedrosian came in third out of 16 entrants, while Ash was fourth. Jordan Leveque took fifth at 12-10.25 (3.92m) to make it 15 points in the event for the Aztecs.
Maya Gorman scored for SDSU in the long jump, placing sixth out of 26 entrants with a leap of 19-02.75 (5.86m).
San Diego State also qualified seven runners into the finals on Saturday in their respective events, led by Shaquena Foote, who ran the fastest 400-meter time in the prelims in 52.70 seconds.
Jada Pierre took second in both the 100 meters (11.54) and the 100 hurdles (13.28). Charlize James (third, 13.30) and Mia Reid (fifth, 13.68) each easily advanced to tomorrow’s finals in the 100 hurdles, while Mikaela Warr (seventh, 11.77) and Aji Mbye (ninth, 11.83) made it in the 100. Samantha Wood finished 10th in the steeplechase in 10:54.02.
With eight of 21 events completed, the Aztecs are eighth out of 11 teams with 18 points. Fresno State leads with 65 points, while Colorado State (58), New Mexico (43), Nevada (32), San Jose State (23), Utah State (23) and Boise State (20) are also ahead of SDSU.
The final day for SDSU begins at 3 p.m. PT Saturday with the triple jump and ends at 9 p.m. PT with the 4x400-meter relay.
