SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State has announced its gameday promotions for Saturday’s Homecoming game against the visiting Cowboys from the University of Wyoming. The game is set to kickoff at 4:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Saturday’s game is sponsored by the San Diego State Alumni Department.
Saturday’s game will serve as one of the key highlights of San Diego State’s homecoming weekend festivities including the SDSU Alumni haunted Homecoming Tailgate at the River Park Block Party! Along with homecoming, San Diego State will also celebrate Heroes Day. Heroes Day provides an opportunity to acknowledge and honor members of the military and first responders including recognition for both the United States Navy and Fleet Week in San Diego. Fans who uploaded photos of their own heroes in uniform will have a chance to appear on the video board during the game!
The River Block Party, presented by Snapdragon, will open at 11:00 a.m. Other activations at the block party include a Kids Zone with a prize wheel, temporary tattoos, food and beverage options, and big screen TVs with other college football games playing. Free camo “dri-fit” shirts will be available to SDSU students, while supplies last, starting at 1:00 p.m. while free SDSU short sleeve hoodies will be distributed at all stadium gates upon entry while supplies last as well.
Starting at 2:00 p.m. the Grammy nominated band Common Kings will headline the River Block Party featuring an hour-long musical set. San Diego State is excited to partner with Common Kings for a day celebrating homecoming, real life heroes and the San Diego community!
The Warrior Walk will begin at 1:45 p.m., offering fans the perfect opportunity to cheer on the team as they exit the buses and walk into Snapdragon Stadium where they will gear up to take on the visiting Cowboys! Fans can mingle with the San Diego State spirit squads, including cheerleaders, dance team and band, before watching the Aztecs get ready to do battle inside the stadium.
San Diego State students will also be invited to the Aztec Halftime Party hosted by DJ D-Rock in the North concourse to keep the energy high and good times rolling heading into the second half!
San Diego State football is proud to announce Brett Faryniarz as this week’s Honor Warrior. Faryniarz ranks fifth all-time at San Diego State with 20.5 sacks, including 13 sacks in 1987, the second most in SDSU single-season history en route to being named the team’s defensive MVP. A team captain in 1987 as a senior, Faryniarz lettered four years with the Aztecs from 1984-97, finishing his career with 261 tackles, the most among defensive linemen in San Diego State program history.
