SAN DIEGO – San Diego State baseball head coach Kevin Vance has unveiled the team’s highly anticipated 2026 schedule, featuring a 55-game docket with 27 home dates at Tony Gwynn Stadium. In addition to co-hosting the 11th annual Tony Gwynn Legacy, the Aztecs will embark on their final season as members of the Mountain West.

Of the 25 different opponents on its 2026 slate, SDSU will play 37 games against 15 teams that posted winning records last season, including non-conference battles with five NCAA regional participants in Saint Mary’s (three games), UC Irvine (two games), UCLA, USC and Arizona State, as well as a MW series with defending league tournament champion Fresno State.

Along with the aforementioned squads UCLA (10), UC Irvine (25), USC (42), Arizona State (49) and Saint Mary’s (87), the Aztecs’ attractive schedule features three additional non-league foes that finished among the top 100 in the final NCAA RPI last year in UConn (38), Brigham Young (61) and Washington (78).

San Diego State will also play one series against each of its eight Mountain West adversaries, featuring home bouts with Washington State, Air Force, Nevada and San José State, along with road clashes at Grand Canyon, New Mexico, Fresno State and UNLV.

Information on season and single-game tickets, as well as gameday promotions and broadcast schedule will be available at a later date.

The Aztecs open their 2026 campaign with a three-game series against Long Island University at Tony Gwynn Stadium, Feb. 13-15, marking just the third time in the last seven years that SDSU has begun a season at home, joining the 2021 and 2024 squads. Last season, LIU posted a 35-23 overall record, capturing the Northeast Conference regular-season title before falling to Central Connecticut State in the league tournament championship final.

SDSU has faced just one other school among current baseball members in the Northeast Conference after sweeping a four-game home series from Wagner in 2010.

After a quick trip to Orange County for a midweek clash at UC Irvine on Feb. 17, the Scarlet and Black returns to “America’s Finest City” to co-host the 11th edition of the Tony Gwynn Legacy, Feb. 20-22. The Aztecs will face three schools in this year’s installment, battling Brigham Young, Utah and San Diego, respectively.

Facing two former MW rivals of yesteryear, the Aztecs will renew acquaintances with the Cougars to open the tournament before engaging the Utes for the third straight season, while the Toreros will pay a visit to The Mesa for the weekend finale in the lone contest between the two crosstown foes this year.

A road test awaits the Scarlet and Black at UCLA on Feb. 24 in the first meeting between the two squads since 2017.  That season, SDSU swept two games from the Bruins, winning at the Lake Elsinore Diamond and in San Diego.

Three days later, the Aztecs will travel to the Emerald City for the first time in program history when they tackle Washington in a four-game series, Feb. 27-March 2, in Seattle. The Scarlet and Black last faced the Huskies in 2012 when it dropped two of three encounters at home to open the season.

SDSU resumes its busy stretch on March 4 when it faces Long Beach State in a midweek battle at Tony Gwynn Stadium before playing host to Saint Mary’s in a three-game weekend set, March 6-8.

Another excursion to Orange County is on deck for the Aztecs when they lock horns with Cal State Fullerton on March 10 before returning home to The Mesa for a three-game series against Washington State, March 13-15, to open Mountain West play.

SDSU will then assume the role of road warriors, playing nine of its next 10 games away from “America’s Finest City,” beginning March 17 when it crosses swords with USC in Los Angeles.

The Aztecs will continue north to the Bay Area where they will play two non-conference games apiece against Connecticut and San José State over a three-day span, March 20-22, at Excite Ballpark in San Jose.

Coach Vance was a two-way star during his collegiate playing career at UConn, earning all-Big East honors on two occasions to go with first-team all-region and second-team All-America recognition as a junior in 2011.

San Diego State will receive a brief respite from the road March 24 when it battles UC Irvine in a rematch at Tony Gwynn Stadium. However, the Aztecs will quickly pack their bags for a trip to the desert where they will face MW newcomer Grand Canyon in a three-game series, March 27-29 in Phoenix, Arizona. The Scarlet and Black will remain in the Valley of the Sun to play Arizona State on March 30 at historic Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

As the calendar flips pages, SDSU welcomes Air Force to The Mesa for a three-game conference set, April 2-4, before playing host to UC Riverside on April 8 in the lone meeting between the two squads this season.

The Aztecs will endure another weighty road swing, playing eight of their next 10 games away from Tony Gwynn Stadium, starting with a MW series at New Mexico, April 10-12.

SDSU will alternate venues in four single contests over the ensuing two weeks, welcoming UC San Diego to The Mesa on April 14 for the first of two crosstown skirmishes before driving up the freeway for a rematch with Long Beach State the next evening on April 15.

After enjoying a rare weekend bye, the Aztecs return to the diamond for a home clash with Seattle on April 20 before visiting the San Fernando Valley for a showdown with CSUN the following day on April 21.

The Scarlet and Black will put the finishes touches on the month with a three-game series at defending MW tournament champion Fresno State, April 24-26, before tackling Cal State Fullerton at home on April 28.

As the final month of the regular season unfolds, San Diego State will engage conference opponents for three consecutive weekends. The Aztecs will play host to Nevada (May 1-3) and San José State (May 8-10) before hitting the road to battle UNLV (May 14-16). During that stretch, the Scarlet and Black will also square off against UCSD (May 5) in the team’s final non-conference game of the year at Triton Ballpark in La Jolla.

For the second straight season, the Mountain West Championship will be conducted at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona, with this year’s edition slated for May 20-23.

The Road to Omaha gets underway with NCAA Regional competition at various campus sites, May 29-June 1, while Super Regional play is set for June 5-7, followed by the Men’s College World Series, June 12-22.

San Diego State added 19 college transfers to the roster this season, including 13 players who competed for Power 5 programs a year ago.
