SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s tennis is set for its 2026 home opener on Sunday, welcoming Loyola Marymount to the Aztec Tennis Center for an 11 a.m. matchup.

The Aztecs enter the match with a 1-4 overall record. After a split in their season opening doubleheader in Los Angeles, where they swept UC San Diego 4-0 and fell 4-0 to No. 19 USC, the Aztecs played three consecutive matches on the road in the Bay Area, coming up short 4-1 at No. 4 Stanford and No. 15 California, and 5-2 at Santa Clara.
LMU brings a 1-0 record to Sunday’s contest after defeating UC San Diego 5-2 on Saturday. In 2025, the Lions went 7-14 on the season. Head Coach Tom Lloyd returned five players to this year’s roster, led by three seniors.
The last time the two programs met was in February 2024, with the Lions taking a 4-3 victory over the Aztecs.
Through the first five matches of the 2026 campaign, Denis Maijorov leads San Diego State in singles victories, playing in the sixth spot. The sophomore earned wins over Stanford’s Luke Tusher (6-2, 7-5) and UC San Diego’s David Adamson (6-3, 6-0).
Aleksi Lofman, Finn Willman and Imran Daniel Hazli have each made appearances on court one, but the Aztecs have yet to capture a point in the top spot.
William Kleege and Maijorov have led the team in doubles with a 10-5 overall record after going 9-2 in the fall.
Following the home opener, the Aztecs will hit the road again, heading to Fayetteville, Ark. to take on Arkansas on Feb. 6, followed by a Feb. 8 matchup against Tulsa.
