COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nala Williams of the San Diego State women’s basketball team was named the Mountain West Player of the Week after a historic performance vs. San Jose State Saturday.
Williams (Long Beach, Calif.) scored 20 points and dished out 10 assists in SDSU’s 94-66 win over the Spartans. She became the first Aztec in the Mountain West era to ever have at least 20 points, 10 assists and no turnovers in a game, and was just the third player in the nation to accomplish that this season.
Williams was 7-for-10 from the field, 3-for-5 from three and 3-for-3 from the line and added five rebounds and a steal. She posted a team-high plus/minus of +26 in 25 minutes to help SDSU win their 11th game in a row and stay perfect (9-0) in Mountain West play.
Williams is the second Aztec to win Mountain West Player of the Week this season. Nat Martinez won the award last month after scoring 22 points in SDSU’s win at Kansas State.
The Aztecs play at Colorado State Wednesday at 10 a.m. PT.
