RENO, NEV. – The San Diego State Women’s Track and Field is returning to the Reno-Sparks Convention Center for the second weekend in a row. The Aztecs are set to compete in the Battle Born Classic against a field featuring athletes from over 13 NCAA Division I programs, including future Pac-12 teams Fresno State and Oregon State. The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 13 at 10 a.m. PT.

The first event of the weekend will be the long jump featuring four Aztecs. Xiamara Young enters the weekend as the top seeded competitor and the top ranked long jumper in the Mountain West. She is coming off a victory in the long jump in this same venue last week at the Wolf Pack Classic. Young will be joined by the trio of Alyssa Alumbres, Chloe Williams and Giselle Galles. Young and Alumbres will also compete in the triple jump with Young owning the top seed mark in that event as well.

On the track, San Diego State is sending a group of 10 sprinters to compete across multiple events. Aji Mbye enters the weekend with the third fastest seed time in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. Anna Mager will also be doubling as she plans to race the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. Along with the individual sprinters, San Diego State’s 4x400 meter relay teams have been off to a strong start including posting the fourth fastest indoor time in program history last weekend. The quartet of Laraigh Allen, Kelia Bentham, Shari Hurdman and Lidia Major will all be returning to the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

SDSU’s distance team will also be returning to action for the first time since the Mile City meet on January 31. The trio of Elliana Lomeli, Samantha Wood and Sara Jones are all slated to run the mile. They all set top 10 program times at Mile City with Lomeli setting a new indoor freshman record as well. They will be joined by Isabella Fauria who is also in the record books as one of the Aztec’s top 10-mile performers.

Lastly, the pole vault team will look to build on a strong outing last weekend. Isabella Nilsen not only won the Wolf Pack Classic but did so with a new personal best and ninth best program vault (4.20m) last time she was in Reno. The duo of Peyton Bedrosian and Jordan Leveque took second and third place respectively while both posting 3.86m marks. As a team, San Diego State has three top five seed marks in the pole vault heading into the Battle Born Classic.

This will be the final regular season indoor meet for San Diego State. After this meet the Aztecs will return to Reno for the team’s final Mountain West Indoor Championships that will be held from February 27-28. As it stands the Aztecs own top five performers in the 200-meter dash, 4x400 meter relay, pole vault, long jump and triple jump.
