Aztec Swim and Dive Seeks Fifth Straight MW Crown This Week
The San Diego State swim and dive team will be aiming for its fifth straight conference title and seventh in the last eight years when it travels to the Lone Star State this week for the 2026 Mountain West Championships, scheduled for Feb. 18-21 in Houston, Texas.
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State swim and dive team will be aiming for its fifth straight conference title and seventh in the last eight years when it travels to the Lone Star State this week for the 2026 Mountain West Championships, scheduled for Feb. 18-21 in Houston, Texas.
The four-day meet commences on Wednesday at the CRWC Natatorium on the University of Houston campus and will be streamed live via the MW Network with links available on GoAztecs.com. See below for complete meet schedule.
SDSU will battle nine other conference foes that sponsor women's swimming and diving, including Air Force, Colorado State, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Nevada, San José State, UNLV, Wyoming and Washington State. GCU joined the Mountain West last summer, while WSU is in its second and final year as an affiliate member in swimming.
On July 1, 2026, San Diego State, Colorado State, Fresno State and Washington State will become members of the new Pac-12 Conference.
The Aztecs have won nine MW Championships in program history (2011, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025), taking home the crown last season with 1,283 points to hold off second-place UNLV (1,178) by 105 points. In 2023, the Scarlet and Black set a conference record with 1,638 points en route to the championship.
San Diego State will be looking to become the first school to claim five consecutive MW titles after tying former conference member Brigham Young with four straight championships a year ago. Previously, the Cougars captured league crowns in four consecutive seasons from 2007-10.
SDSU returns seven competitors that combined for 23 all-Mountain West honors at last year’s league meet, including Abby Storm, Alli Mann and Moa Bergdahl, who garnered five all-MW accolades each, while Kaydence Bispo collected four all-conference plaudits.
Mann and Bispo contributed to the Aztecs’ victorious 400 freestyle relay team, joining forces with Storm on SDSU’s triumphant 200 freestyle relay. In addition, Storm is the defending conference champion in the 200 backstroke.
Continuing their success of the last decade, the Aztecs have once again completed a dual-meet schedule without a blemish on their record, posting a 10-0 mark during the 2025-65 campaign. With those results, SDSU raised its record to 144-2 since January 2013 and extended its dual-meet winning streak to 85 straight dating back to January 2018.
As a team, the Aztecs captured an impressive team title at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational, Nov. 20-22, in St. George, Utah. SDSU led wire-to-wire, totaling 882.50 points to easily outdistance second-place UC San Diego (761.50 pts), followed by UC Davis (535 pts) and California Baptist (222 pts).
Since the beginning of the 2017-18 season, the Aztecs have competed in 20 regular-season invitational meets and have finished outside of the top three just once during that span, logging seven first-place performances, 10 second-place efforts and a pair of third-place results.
San Diego State displayed its trademark depth at the Trailblazer Invite, posting 22 top-three placements, featuring nine event titles. The Aztecs emerged triumphant in all three freestyle relays (200, 400, 800) to go with a crown in the 400 medley relay.
In addition, the Scarlet and Black received two individual victories apiece at that meet from Storm (100, 200 back) and Bispo (50, 200 free), while Alyssa Schiller won the 100 free.
SDSU set 19 school career top-10 best times/marks during the 2025-26 campaign, including 15 in swimming and four in diving. Highlighting that list was Storm’s 1:53.27 clocking in the 200 back at the Trailblazer Invite and Mann’s sprint of 52.68 in the 100 fly in a dual meet against USD on Jan. 23, both of which rank second in school history.
San Diego State set four Aztec Aquaplex pool records in that aforementioned meet vs. the Toreros, including Mann in the 50 free (22.48) and 100 fly (52.68), along with Bispo in the 200 free (1:48.32). Additionally, SDSU’s 200 medley relay team of Storm, Bergdahl, Emily Tenczar and Alyssa Schiller combined to set a pool standard of 1:40.35.
Following this week's Mountain West gathering, San Diego State will begin preparations for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, set for March 9-11 in Flagstaff, Arizona.
The NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships are also scheduled for next month, March 18-21 at McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
