SAN DIEGOXiamara Young has continued her dominant 2026 indoor season, this time picking up a pair of first place finishes at the Battle Born Classic in Reno, Nevada. The senior from Las Vegas wrapped up the regular season with a commanding lead for the top marks in both the triple and long jumps across the entire conference.

Young, a 2024 Indoor All-American, kickstarted the Aztec’s weekend winning the long jump. Despite a handful of faults, her mark of 6.26m gave her a decisive victory as only one other athlete managed to clear the 6.00m mark. Her 6.26m jump ranks second in the entire Mountain West only trailing her own performance at the MLK Invitational where she posted a 6.34m personal best earlier this season. Only one other Mountain West athlete has been able to clear 6.00m this season.

The next day Young dominated the triple jump field. On her final attempt of the day, she managed a 13.34m jump that not only won her gold but moved her into the top 10 of NCAA Division I triple jumpers. She also owns a commanding lead among Mountain West competitors as Nevada’s Meekness Dogonyaro sits in second place with a season best of 12.77m, an almost 0.60m difference.

Young and the Aztecs will return to action this weekend for the programs final Mountain West Indoor Championship meet hosted at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The meet is scheduled to begin Thursday, February 26 at 10:00 a.m. PT and will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network.
