SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s basketball student-athletes Taj DeGourville and Jeremiah Oden were honored with inclusion on the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday as the initial step to being named an Academic All-America by the organization.

Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions.

To be eligible an undergraduate student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA. Athletic eligibility for men’s basketball players includes competing in 90 percent of the institution's games played or starting in at least 66 percent of his institution's games.

DeGourville, a sophomore, led the team in assists (100) and assists per game (3.0), while setting a career-high in games (33) and earning the first five starts of his college career.  In addition, his 640 minutes, 62 field goals, 167 field goal attempts, .371 field goal percentage, .345 three-point percentage, 38 free throws and 58 free throw attempts, as well as 93 rebounds, 27 steals, 181 points and 5.5 points per game were all career highs.

A communications major and native of Las Vegas, DeGourville has maintained a 3.68 GPA.

Oden, a graduate student from Chicago, started 15 games amongst 30 appearances. He averaged 4.6 points on 44.1 percent shooting from the field (49-of-111) and 30.2 percent from beyond the arc (16-of-53) and 69.7 percent from the charity stripe (23-of-33), with 70 rebounds, 11 assists, 12 steals, and three blocks. He reached the 1,000-point career milestone against Wyoming on February 3, the program that he started his career at and played with for in his first three years of college.

With an undergraduate GPA of 4.0 and bachelor’s degree in psychology from DePaul, Oden will graduate from San Diego State with a master’s degree in education with a 3.67 GPA.
