SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women’s golf team is playing in the Silicon Valley Showcase at the Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, Calif. Monday-Tuesday.
The 11-team field will feature four teams ranked in the top 50: No. 1 Stanford, No. 29 Eastern Michigan, No. 33 Kansas State and No. 50 Cal. Also competing is Santa Clara, San Francisco, UC Davis, UC Irvine, Washington State and Wyoming.
The Aztecs have risen 21 spots in the rankings since the start of the spring season.
SDSU’s lineup for the tournament will be Ema Narita, Kylie Phi, Manon Martin, Emilia Omander and Stephanie Barbaglia.
Narita (Tokyo, Japan) has finished in the top 20 in every tournament this spring while sporting an impressive 71.62 stroke average with a 234-40-5 record. Her stroke average of 72.16 on the season would be the second best in school history.
Phi (Fountain Valley, Calif.) has a 398-189-26 record, a 73.36 stroke average and four top-11 finishes on the year.
Manon Martin (Courbevoie, France) has posted career-low 54-hole scores in three of the last four tournaments and has two top 10 finishes this spring.
Omander (Cologne, Germany) has started all five competitions this spring and tied a personal best with an even par 72 in SDSU’s last tournament, the MountainView Collegiate.
Stephanie Barbaglia (Johannesburg, South Africa) has made a team-high 29 starts in her SDSU career and has a count percentage of 84.1%
The tournament is hosted by Santa Clara and is played at the Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, Calif. Teams will tee off with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start each day.
The forecast calls for cloudy skies and a chance of rain on Tuesday for the second round.
