LAS ANGELES, CALIF.– San Diego State Track and Field continued their strong weekend putting together another solid day of competition at Drake Stadium. The Aztecs competed across numerous events including seven on the track and five in the field.
Leading the way in the running events was Jada Pierre. The Aztec’s all-conference hurdler earned a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles winning the event with a time of 13.25. Pierre finished in seventh place in the 200-meter dash running 23.79 in a field of over 50 competitors. Freshmen Shari Hurdman and Kelia Bentham were outstanding in the 400-meter dash with Hurdman finishing in third and Bentham in fifth. Hurdman ran 53.63 while Bentham posted a final time of 54.24. Aji Mbye also cracked the top 10 running a personal best of 55.38. In the 100-meter dash Olivia Hicks 11.61 finishing time stands as a new personal best and was the fourth fastest time of the day among 65 different sprinters.
In the throwing circle Jenna Fee Feyerabend and Ana Luisa Couto Soares Ferraz both landed in the top 10 in the shot put. Feyerabend would throw 14.11m for a new personal best while Soares Ferraz threw for 13.00m. The pole-vaulting duo of Sydney Ash and Isabella Nilsen tied for fourth with both Aztecs vaulting 3.98m, the highest mark that Ash has cleared so far this season.

The Aztecs will head into Spring Break with their eyes set on a pair of meets scheduled for Friday, April 3. The Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida and the Stanford Invitational in the Bay Area will see the team split up as they prepare to compete. The preparations for the annual Aztec Invitational are also underway with SDSU’s signature home meet scheduled to run from April 8-10.
