SAN DIEGO – San Diego State lacrosse is back on The Mesa for the first time in two weeks, welcoming Rutgers to Aztec Field for a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup on Monday.

The Aztecs hold a 2-8 overall record and are 0-1 in conference play following a 16-5 loss at No. 14 Colorado in their Big 12 opener on Saturday. Prior to their road trip to Boulder, the team took down Akron 14-13 in Ohio.
Rutgers enters the contest 7-4 on the season and 2-1 in the Big Ten, receiving votes in this week’s IWLCA Top 25 Poll. Last time out, the Scarlet Knights earned a 15-8 win at USC on Saturday.
This will be just the second time the two programs have met and the first since 2022, when 13th-ranked Rutgers won 14-4.
Keira Doyle-Odenbach and Mia Maechtel are the team’s leading scorers with 23 and 21 goals, respectively. Doyle-Odenbach recently etched her name in the record book, breaking the school record for most draw controls in a single game with 13 against Columbia on March 15, in addition to scoring six goals at Akron, which ties the sixth most goals in a single game.
Caitlin Boughton has started in the goal in all 10 games this season. In the last outing, the senior faced a season high 40 shots while grabbing 10 saves. She has 65 saves on the year.
Sophomore Maya Tillman ranks second in the Big 12 in caused turnovers per game, averaging 1.60 with a total of 16. As a team, the Aztecs are second in the league in forcing turnovers with an average of 8.80 per game.
Of Rutgers’ 148 goals this season, 42 of them have been at the hands of sophomore attacker Caroline Ling, who has also recorded 17 assists. She ranks ninth in the nation in goals per game.
Following Monday’s game, the Aztecs will return to conference play at UC Davis on April 4.
