RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The San Diego State women’s golf team finished the first round of the Mountain West Championships Tuesday. After 18 holes, the Aztecs are led by Ema Narita and Kylie Warner who each shot a two-over-par 74.
Warner was one-under-par on the front nine and her 74 was her best 18-hole score as an Aztec. Narita had a consistent day, firing 14 pars to go with three bogeys and a birdie on the second hole. Her 14 pars tied for the second most of the day.
Kylie Phi tied Warner for the team-lead with three birdies, including the first two holes, and finished with a three-over-par 75.
Stephanie Barbaglia recorded an 82 (+10) while Manon Martin finished outside the scoring with an 83.
San Jose State and Colorado State are tied for first after the first round with a three-over-par 291. The Rams’ Kara Kaneshiro and Grand Canyon’s Alexis Vakasiuola are tied for the individual lead after shooting a four-under-par 68.
STAT OF THE DAY
Kylie Warner had birdies on two of the four par threes. Her 2.50 average of par threes led the field.
