SAN DIEGO – Luca Vincini, a 6-9 forward who last played Banco di Sardegna Sassari in Italian LBA Serie A, has signed an athletic aid agreement to compete for the San Diego State men’s basketball program in the 2026-27 school year. Brian Dutcher, head men’s basketball coach, made the announcement Tuesday.

A six-year European professional, the 22-year-old has competed in 170 career games in Italy, according to Real GM, and shot 49.3 percent (264-of-531) from the field, including 27.3 percent (12-of-44) from distance and 69.3 percent (169-244) from the line  in averaging 4.6 points and 3.0 rebounds in 14.6 minutes of action. Overall, including European Cup games, he has played in 193 contests and averaged 4.7 points on 50.4 percent (349-of-693) shooting from the field and 68.1 percent (196-of-288) from the line with 3.1 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.4 blocks and 0.3 steals.

As a three-time member of the Italian Youth National Team, the native of Turin, Italy, averaged a career-best 9.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in seven games at the 2023 U20 European Championship A and assisted the senior national team to a two-game split at the 2027 FIBA World Cup European Qualifier.

Vincini joins Latrell Davis (Leeds, England), David Torresani (Milan, Italy), and Luka Skoric (Zagreb, Croatia) as European-born players on the 2026-27 SDSU roster. He also becomes the second Italian player signed to compete for the Aztecs next season. In total, SDSU has five foreign nationals on its roster next year (also: Thokbor Majak from Bor, South Sudan), 45.5 percent of its scholarship roster, the most in program history.

Vincini is the sixth addition to San Diego State’s roster in recent weeks. He joins transfers Chance Gladden (Boston Univ.), Nick Anderson (Rice) and Jeremiah “Bear” Cherry (Sacramento State), Torresani, Skoric, and freshman Zach White, who signed in November, as newcomers to the team. The Aztecs return Elzie Harrington, Tae Simmons, Davis and Thokbor Majak from the 2025-26 roster.
