2024 Mountain West All-Academic Selection
2024 SEASON (As a Sophomore): Pitched in nine games over the final month of the year after recovering from an injury… Posted an 0-1 record with a 3.38 ERA and six strikeouts in eight innings of work… Walked just one batter in his first eight appearances before issuing two bases on balls in the campaign finale at Nevada… Made his season debut at Long Beach State, where he fanned one hitter in his one-inning stint (4-16-24)… Retired the lone batter he faced in the eighth inning of SDSU’s 9-8 nail-biter over Fresno State (5-3-24)… Duplicated the feat two days later in the seventh inning of the Aztecs’ 5-2 triumph vs. the Bulldogs, helping the Scarlet and Black complete the home sweep (5-5-24)… Made his first collegiate start against UC San Diego when he logged career highs of four strikeouts and 3.1 innings pitched (5-14-24)… Yielded just one hit and did not allow a run in his appearance vs. the Tritons… Earned a spot on the Mountain West all-academic team following the spring semester.
2023 SEASON (As a Freshman): Appeared in eight games as a reliever during his rookie campaign, finishing with an 0-1 record and a 1.23 ERA… Yielded just one earned run in 7.1 innings of work… Offset four hits and a walk with six strikeouts… Made his collegiate debut in the series finale at Arizona State, exiting after receiving an unassisted double play in the bottom of the sixth following a leadoff double (2-19-23)… Was the last of seven pitchers utilized in the Aztecs’ 14-5 home romp over UC Riverside, retiring all three hitters faced in the ninth, capped by a game-ending strikeout (4-4-23)… Set season highs with two strikeouts and two innings pitched vs. UC San Diego (5-16-23)… Fanned his lone batter faced during the eighth inning of SDSU’s key 4-3 triumph over New Mexico in the second game of a home series to end the regular season (5-19-23).
PRIOR TO COLLEGE: Graduated in 2022 from Serrano High School in Phelan, California, where he was a four-year varsity competitor under head coach John Grijalva … Garnered first-team all-CIF Division V accolades and received first-team all-conference recognition as a senior after helping the Diamondbacks capture the Mojave River League championship and advance to the second round of the Southern Section playoffs … Batted .304 with five doubles, one homer and 22 RBIs in 22 games as an outfielder, according to MaxPreps, while posting a 3-0 record with a scant 0.20 ERA in nine pitching appearances to earn area Player of the Year honors by the Victorville Daily Press … Notched 79 strikeouts against six walks while allowing just one earned run in 35.2 innings … Also received preseason All-America honorable mention for the California region prior to the 2022 campaign by Perfect Game … Posted a slash line of .448/.508/.637 in 21 games as a junior, finishing with 26 hits and 15 runs scored … Also collected four saves and one victory in 12 games on the mound, compiling an impressive 0.68 ERA to go with 31 strikeouts in 20.2 innings to merit second-team all-league distinction … Earned all-tournament honors in four events sponsored by Perfect Game, including the 2021 17U Ultimate Baseball West Championship at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, where his CBA Marucci National club team took home the crown … Played for the CBA Marucci American squad that competed at the 2021 18U Fall National Championship in Surprise, Arizona, as well as the WWBA 2022 Grads or 17U National Championship earlier that year in Marietta, Georgia … Also participated in the 2017 Super 25 13U SoCal Super Qualifier in Tustin, California, as a member of the CBA Trojans team.
