Mountain West Freshman of the Week (May 6, 2024; May 20, 2024)
2025 SEASON (As a Sophomore): Became the Aztecs’ regular right fielder in his second year with the Scarlet and Black, making 54 starts at the position to go with one start in center… Compiled a slash line of .285/.352/.395 with 23 RBIs and five stolen bases, helping the Aztecs secure a spot in the Mountain West Championship… Tied for second on the team with 16 doubles and ranked fourth with 36 runs scored. Also shared the fifth spot on the squad with 57 hits… Finished with multiple hits in 15 games and drove in two or more runs on six occasions… Reached base in 11 consecutive games to begin the season… Set career high with four hits (4-for-4) and four runs scored in SDSU’s 16-11 season-opening triumph over Seton Hall at the MLB Desert Invitational in Arizona (2-14-25)… Tied his collegiate best with four hits in the home opener vs. Seattle, ripping an RBI triple in the seventh inning, as the Scarlet and Black rallied for 5-4 victory in 10 innings (2-20-25)… Went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored in the first game of a home doubleheader against San José State (3-15-25)… Collected two hits in each of the final two games of a weekend series at Washington State, driving a pair of runs in the finale with a triple and a sacrifice fly (3-22/23-25)… Knocked in two runs with a single and sacrifice fly in the Aztecs’ 3-1 triumph over UNLV in game two of a conference series, as the Scarlet and Black completed a weekend sweep (3-29-25)… Enjoyed a monster 4-for-6 performance in SDSU’s 16-4 run-rule victory at Air Force, tying his career high with four hits while posting a season-high three RBIs, including two by doubles in the third and seventh inning (4-6-25)… Hit a combined .333 (4-for-12) with four runs scored in a key weekend sweep at San José State (4-17/19-25)… Ripped a pair of doubles, driving in a run and crossing the plate in the Aztecs’ big 15-2 run-rule triumph over Washington State in the penultimate game of the regular season, as the Scarlet and Black clinched a berth in the conference tournament (5-16-25)… Went 3-for-5 in SDSU’s 8-0 shutout of UNLV in the first game of the Mountain West Championship, highlighted by a two-run double in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach (5-21-25)… Singled twice and scored a run in an elimination game against San José State two days later (5-23-25)… Earned a spot on the Mountain West all-academic team following the spring semester.
2024 SEASON (As a Freshman): Appeared in 20 games during his rookie campaign, posting a slash line of .353/.389/.588 with two homers and 14 RBIs… Also smacked six doubles and scored eight runs… Made five starts in right field, five at designated hitter and one in left field… Tied for second on the team with six at-bats as a pinch hitter… Totaled two or more hits in five games and finished with multiple RBIs on four occasions… Made his collegiate debut as a defensive replacement in the Aztecs’ 7-1 home victory over Portland (2-17-24)… Doubled and scored in his first career start at designated hitter, helping SDSU defeat visiting UC Riverside by a 5-4 count (3-12-24)… Finished with two hits and a sacrifice fly in the Aztecs’ big 18-8 triumph at UC San Diego (4-10-24)… Contributed two additional hits at Long Beach State, including an RBI double (4-16-24)… Ended the year with a six-game hitting streak, batting .524 in that span (11-21) with 11 RBIs and five runs scored… Provided the winning margin in SDSU’s dramatic 9-8 victory over Fresno State with a pinch-hit three-run double in the bottom of the seventh (5-3-24)… Also collected a pair of hits in the series finale vs. the Bulldogs to help the Scarlet and Black secure the home sweep, earning Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors in the process (5-5-24)… Garnered his second MW Freshman of the Week accolade after slashing .583/.667/1.333 with two homers, eight RBIs and seven runs scored in the Aztecs’ final regular-season series at Nevada… Launched a grand slam for his first collegiate home run in game two against the Wolf Pack, compiling a 3-for-6 effort at the plate with two doubles and two runs scored (5-17-24)… Homered for the second straight game with a two-run shot in the seventh inning of the series finale after drawing a walk and crossing the plate earlier in the contest (5-18-24).
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2023 from Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was a four-year varsity competitor for head coach Dave Anderson… Batted .331 in 65 games during his prep career with 34 RBIs, 52 runs scored and 12 stolen bases, according to MaxPreps… Enjoyed his finest season as a junior in 2022, when he hit .320 in 32 games, finishing with career highs in hits (31), runs scored (29), RBIs (14), doubles (8), triples (3) and stolen bases (10)… Helped the Crusaders to consecutive semifinal appearances in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) Class 5A Southern Regional playoffs during his junior and senior campaigns… Received a No. 89 national ranking among outfielders from Perfect Game for the high school graduating class of 2023 and was listed as a top 500 recruit overall… Also earned a No. 2 ranking at his position among Nevada players from the website and was rated No. 6 in that state overall… Garnered first-team all-West Region accolades from Perfect Game prior to the 2023 season after receiving the same distinction as an underclassman in 2022… Chose the Aztecs after drawing interest from UNLV and Utah Tech during the recruiting process… A multi-sport athlete who additionally won two letters in tennis as a prep.
CLUB: Earned all-tournament honors as a club player at numerous Perfect Game events, including the 2022 18U PG Summer Showdown in Marietta, Georgia, competing as a member of the Ohio Warhawks squad that captured the event title… Also received the same recognition with the Chi-Town Cream that claimed a tournament championship at the 2021 PG 18U World Series in Hoover, Alabama… Additionally landed on the Showcase Top Prospect team at the 2021 PG Underclass All-American Games held in San Diego.
PERSONAL: Born in Las Vegas, Nevada… Parents are Michael and Maureen Kelly… Lists Bryce Harper and Ken Griffey Jr. as his favorite athletes… Enjoys fishing and playing video games… Majoring in psychology… Intends to play baseball as long as possible with career plans to become a firefighter.
