2019-20 SEASON (As A Junior)

Collected all-Mountain West honors in doubles for the second year in a row after teaming with Rafael Gonzalez Almazan … Landed a spot on the MW all-academic team for the third straight season.
     Singles – Compiled an 8-11 record during the 2019-20 campaign that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic … Saw action at four different spots on the Aztecs’ ladder during the abbreviated dual-match match schedule, finishing with a 4-4 mark … Notched his first win of the year at the UCSB Fall Classic, where he surged past Stanford’s Tomas Kopczynski in the Flight B consolation quarterfinals, 7-6(1), 6-1 … Registered a pair of victories in consolation play at the ITA Southwest Regional, where he beat UC Irvine’s Daniel Gealer, 7-5, 6-1, before upending Grand Canyon’s Frederick Grant, 6-2, 7-6(0) … Opened that tournament with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over UC Riverside’s Gilbert Chung but could not advance in the bracket, falling to USC’s Bradley Frye in the second round, 6-2, 6-4 … Snapped a six-match losing skid to start the spring after dispatching UC Irvine’s Mike Mkrtchian in the No. 6 position, 6-4, 6-2, helping the Scarlet and Black defeat the Anteaters for the fifth straight outing ... Earned Mountain West Player of the Week honors for his efforts vs. UCI, which also included a win in doubles … Reeled off three straight victories to end the year, ignited by a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Boise State’s Mark Papadopoulos at No. 6, lifting SDSU to its first road win vs. the Broncos since 1994, a span of six matches … Followed with a three-set nail-biter over UC Santa Barbara’s Joseph Rotheram in the fifth position, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 … Also prevailed in a marathon super-tiebreaker vs. San Diego Christian’s Nick Nienhaus in the No. 2 spot, 7-6(15), 3-6, 10-2, in what proved to be the final dual match of the season, as the Aztecs completed a 7-0 shutout of the Hawks.
     Doubles – Combined for a 14-9 record with four different playing partners during the season …  Merited all-Mountain West doubles recognition for the second straight year thanks to an unblemished 3-0 mark with teammate Rafael Gonzalez Almazan in the No. 1 spot … The SDSU duo supplied the clinching doubles point vs. UC Davis with a 6-3 conquest of the Aggies' Ivan Thamma and David Goulak ... Returned two days later to defeat Joseph Guillin and Alejandro Vedri of UC Santa Barbara by a 6-4 tally ... Gave the Aztecs a 1-0 lead in their blanking of San Diego Christian after downing the Hawks' Chris Papa and Ivan Smith, 6-2 ... Additionally partnered with Gonzalez Almazan at the prestigious Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championships in La Jolla, California, amassing a 4-1 record after advancing to the quarterfinal round ... SDSU tandem opened the tournament with an 8-5 upset over the fourth-seeded team of Etienne Donnet and Mathieu Scaglia from Oklahoma State ... Duo quickly progressed in the bracket with victories over Ian Habbestad and Jake Williams of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (8-4) and the UC Irvine connection of Bruce Man-Son-Hing and Tyler Pham (8-1) ... SDSU pairing continued their success the following day with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over UCI's Ali Amiri and Antoine Barthe in the round of 16 before dropping a 6-4, 6-4 decision in the quarterfinals to seventh-seeded Ben Draper and Bjorn Hoffmann of California, who were ranked 38th by the ITA prior to the event … Combined with Aaro Pollanen to post a 4-6 record, including a 3-2 mark during the fall tournament schedule … Duo captured the Flight A consolation championship at the UCSB Fall Classic after notching a decisive 8-1 conquest of UCLA’s Bryce Pereira and Max Wild in the title match … Earlier, the tandem edged Cal Poly’s Antoine Noel and Gary Vardanyan in a semifinal thriller, 8-7(5) … Pairing also emerged triumphant in the opening round of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships with an 8-6 shaving of Loyola Marymount’s Lucas Moreno and Ethan Prost … The same combo posted a 1-4 record in dual-match play at the No. 1 position … Secured the doubles point against UC Irvine with a 7-6(3) decision over Bruce Man-Son-Hing and Mateusz Smolicki … Teamed with Daniel Traxler for a 2-1 record at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic during the fall slate, defeating UCLA’s Blaine Hovenier and Bryce Pereira by an 8-3 count before outlasting Cal Poly’s Noel/Vardanyan, 8-7 … Duo came up short in the semifinals, however, falling to Alex Kobelt and Jordan Sauer of host UNLV, 8-1 … Won his only match teaming with David Hough, recording a 6-4 dual-match victory in the No. 3 spot over UC San Diego’s Sahm Irvine and Phillip Lan.

Garnered his first career all-Mountain West accolade in doubles playing alongside Sander Gjoels-Andersen … Received MW all-academic recognition.
     Singles – Finished with a 14-15 record, tying for the fourth-best win total on the team … Amassed an 11-10 mark in dual matches alternating between the third and fourth positions on the Aztecs’ singles ladder after starting the first three contests in the No. 2 slot … Compiled a 6-3 ledger with one unfinished result in the fourth spot over the final 10 matches of the season … Collected his first victory of the spring with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Sahm Irvine UC San Diego … Helped the Aztecs snap a four-match team losing streak with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph over Portland’s Niklas Oberg … Helped the Scarlet and Black record its first team shutout since 2016 after pinning a 6-2, 6-4 defeat on UC Davis’ Nil Giraldez in the third slot … Also contributed to SDSU’s second blanking of the season after dispatching Eastern Washington’s Manuel Balce, 6-4, 6-2 …  Recorded his first Mountain West victory of the year, rallying for a three-set triumph over Fresno State’s Jeremy Moser, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4, to spark a three-match winning streak … Followed with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Santa Clara’s Robert Seby before upending Nevada’s Jonathan Aremon, 6-1, 6-3 … Ended the regular season with a 6-4, 6-4 decision over UNLV’s Milos Dabic … Helped the Aztecs to their first finals appearance at the Mountain West Championships since 2010 with a pair of wins in the conference tournament … Opened with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over UNLV’s Richard Solberg 6-1, 6-3, before defeating New Mexico’s Tim Buttner, 6-2, 6-2, as the Scarlet and Black stunned the No. 1-seeded Lobos in the semifinals …
Came up short in the title match vs. Fresno State, however, dropping the rematch vs. the Bulldogs’ Jeremy Moser, 6-1, 6-2 … Went 3-5 in fall tournament competition … Collected a pair of impressive victories in consolation play at the Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco … Defeated TCU’s Bertus Kruger in a super-tiebreaker, 7-5, 3-6, 12-10 … Earlier, Kruger rose as high as No. 81 in the ITF World Junior tennis rankings and competed for the South African Junior Davis Cup team … Followed with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over USF freshman standout David Woodland … Also picked up a win in the pre-qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championships after toppling Marcello Moreira of Oral Roberts, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(6).
     Doubles – Forged a 15-11 record in doubles playing alongside three teammates … Garnered all-Mountain West accolades after posting a 9-2 record with Sander Gjoels-Andersen at the No. 1 position in dual-match play … The SDSU duo was the first doubles tandem off the court in six of their first seven outings this spring, emerging victorious in all but one match, including team shutouts over Eastern Washington, Boise State and Nevada … The same pairing closed strong with three straight wins at the MW Championship … Opened the tournament with a narrow 7-5 decision over UNLV’s Clayton Alenik and Eric Samuelsson in the first round before securing the important doubles point in the Aztecs’ upset over No. 1-seeded New Mexico in the semifinals with a 6-3 victory over Ricky Hernandez-Tong and Stepan Holis … Tandem also helped give the Scarlet and Black the early lead over Fresno State in the title match with a  6-3 triumph over the Bulldogs’ Zdenik Derkas and Patrik Pech … Rotated between the second and third positions with Jan Kirchhoff to produce a 5-5 record during the spring … Combo registered an impressive 6-2 victory over Brian Shi and Robert Wrzesinski of 38th-ranked Harvard … Also joined forces with Kirchhoff to post a 3-1 record at the Pacific Coast Doubles Championships … After opening with an 8-5 decision over the Villanova pairing of Tommy Mulflur and Stefan Agustin Suarez, the SDSU duo upset the tournament's No. 2-seeded tandem of Billy Griffith and J.T. Nishimura by an 8-3 tally in the second round … The previous year while playing at Cal, Griffith and Nishimura finished with collegiate careers with a No. 52 ITA doubles ranking after advancing to the round of 32 at the NCAA Championships … Aztec pairing soon followed with an 8-5 conquest of UCLA's Eric Hahn and Mathew Tsolakyan before suffering an 8-3 setback in the round of 16 to Pepperdine's Enrique Luque Rico and Matias Sborowit … Received Mountain West Player of the Week honors for his efforts at the Pac Coast Doubles event, coupled with victories in both singles and doubles in SDSU’s shutout of UC Davis … Joined forces with Kirchhoff to defeat the Aggies’ Daniel Landa and Alex Scemanenco by a 6-3 count … Split two matches with Arnaud Restifo at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships … Duo toppled UCLA’s Connor Rapp and Max Wild by an 8-5 tally before falling in the second round to USC’s Brandon Holt and Riley Smith by an identical score.

Earned a spot on the Mountain West all-academic team.
     Singles – Tied for second on the Aztecs with 12 victories during his rookie campaign ... Also shared the top spot on the squad with seven wins during the fall tournament schedule ... Notched his first victory in a Scarlet and Black uniform with a come-from-behind triumph over UC San Diego’s Marc Isaia in three sets at the Aztec Invitational, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 ... Was unable to advance in the bracket, but rebounded with a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Grand Canyon’s Justin Cvitanovic in consolation play ... Opened with a three-set victory over UC Santa Barbara’s Henrik Atlevi in the round of 128 at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships ... Had his progress stymied in the draw, but came back to defeat Felix Albert of Hawai’i in consolation action ... Also went 2-1 at the Easley Memorial Classic in Las Vegas, cruising past Mario Aguayo of host UNLV in the main bracket, 6-0, 6-1, before knocking off Northern Arizona’s Thomas Fisher in a consolation match, 6-3, 6-1 ... Salvaged a win on the final day of competition at the LMU Invitational with a 6-1, 7-5 decision over Pepperdine’s Felipe Galvao ... Finished with a 5-12 record in dual matches, appearing in five of six positions on the singles ladder throughout the spring, except No. 4 ... Provided the clinching point in the Aztecs’ upset of No. 28 USD by rallying for a three-set victory over the Toreros’ Alexandros Araouzos in the sixth spot, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 ... Recorded SDSU’s lone point vs. No. 25 Harvard with a 6-2, 6-2 conquest of Andrew Ball at No. 6 as well ... Outlasted Denver’s Jesse Ruder-Hook, 6-4, 7-6(6), for his first win of the year in the No. 3 slot ... Toppled Boise State’s Kyle Butters, 6-2, 6-4, in his first start in the second position ... Played the final six matches of the year at No. 1, highlighted by a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Air Force’s Patrick Sklenka.
     Doubles – Teamed with four different playing partners in 13 matches ... Joined forces with Sander Gjoels-Andersen to defeat Rice’s Mohamed Abdel-Aziz/Sumit Sarker by a 6-2 count, helping the Aztecs secure the doubles point in a non-conference dual match at the San Diego Spring Classic ... Combined with Joel Popov in six outings, highlighted by an 8-6 victory over UCLA’s Maxime Cressy/Austin Rapp at the Easley Memorial Classic during the fall tournament slate ... Competed alongside Jan Kirchhoff for five matches, including a spring dual appearance vs. Arizona in the No. 3 position ... Was also paired with Daniel de la Torre for one match at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships in Malibu, Calif.
