Gabriella Rubio began working at San Diego State University in January 2024 as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the swim & dive team.
Before arriving on the Mesa, Rubio worked in professional baseball with the Milwaukee Brewers organization in the Dominican Republic (2023), where she focused on pitcher rehabilitation, improved her Spanish and enjoyed the vibrant culture of the island.
Gabriella earned her Masters of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Mary in North Dakota. During her master's program, she gained diverse clinical experience with Sanford Athletic Training, working with hockey, basketball and the Bismarck Larks Summer Baseball League.
Rubio is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), and is certified through the BOC.
Originally from Northern California, Gabriella relocated from the Dominican Republic to San Diego to play beach volleyball, embrace the coastal lifestyle and be closer to her family.
